The red-green Senate Tschentscher I was the state government in Hamburg from the election of Peter Tschentscher as First Mayor on March 28, 2018 to June 10, 2020 . The election of the mayor became necessary after the previous mayor, Olaf Scholz, had been appointed finance minister and vice chancellor in the new federal government.
On March 28, 2018, Tschentscher was elected First Mayor in the parliament with 71 out of 118 votes cast. Then the senators were elected.
Since its election on March 28, the Tschentscher Senate has consisted of eleven senators, three from the Greens and eight at the suggestion of the SPD, in accordance with the distribution of offices laid down in the coalition agreement.
Since March 18, 2020, the date of the first meeting of the newly elected Hamburg citizenship , Senate Tschentscher I was only executive in office and became first mayor with the renewed election of Tschentscher by the Hamburg citizenship on June 10th, 2020 by the Tschentscher Senate II replaced.
