The Dreyer II cabinet has formed the state government of Rhineland-Palatinate since May 18, 2016 . After the election to the 17th state parliament on March 13, 2016, it was formed as a so-called “ traffic light coalition ” on the basis of coalition negotiations between the parties SPD , FDP and Greens . It is the 24th state government since the state of Rhineland-Palatinate was founded in 1946.

On April 22, 2016, the coalition agreement of the three parties involved was presented. The election and swearing in of Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) and the subsequent appointment and swearing in of the ministers of state took place in the constituent session of the state parliament on May 18, 2016. The names of the cabinet members and state secretaries were announced on May 11, 2016.
