Günter Kern (born August 18, 1956 in Weisel ) is a German civil servant and politician ( SPD ) and former State Secretary of the Rhineland-Palatinate state government.

Life and work

After attending school, Kern completed an administration apprenticeship at the Loreley municipal administration from 1973. He then went through training for the higher administrative service, which he completed with a career examination at the administrative college in Mayen . In addition, he obtained an administration diploma from the Administration and Business Academy in Koblenz . In 1979 he became head of the regulatory department of the Loreley community .

He was an active fistball player and played a. a. also in the 2nd Bundesliga and was also German champion in 2000 with the TV Weisel for seniors (age group 40).

Günter Kern lives in Weisel, where he was born and where he was born. He is married and has three children.

politics

Kern joined the SPD and was mayor of the Loreley community from 1991 to 2003 . On July 6, 2003 he was elected District Administrator of the Rhein-Lahn district . He held this office from September 1, 2003 to January 31, 2014.

On February 1, 2014, he was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior, Sports and Infrastructure. He was given temporary retirement in February 2019.
