Sneschnogorsk ( Russian Снежногорск ) is an urban-type settlement in the Krasnoyarsk region in Siberia ( Russia ) with 887 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
Geographical location
Sneschnogorsk is located at the outflow of the Chantaika, which flows west to the Yenisei , from the Chantaika reservoir in the hill country that slopes down from there to the West Siberian lowlands . The settlement belongs to the Norilsk district . The distance to Norilsk to the north is about 160 km.
history
Snezhnogorsk was founded in 1963 as a settlement for the construction workers of the Ust-Khantaika hydropower plant located near the village in the main dam of the reservoir . Since 2004, Snezhnogorsk has been part of the Norilsk city district administratively.
