Jemeljanowo ( Russian Емелья́ново ) is an urban-type settlement in the Krasnoyarsk region ( Russia ) with 12,055 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located in central Siberia, about 20 km northwest of the center of the regional capital Krasnoyarsk . It stretches for several kilometers along the Katscha River , which flows into the Yenisei in Krasnoyarsk .

Jemeljanowo is the administrative center of the Jemeljanowo Rajon of the same name . The districts of Krutaya, Logowoi, Muschitschkino, Suchaja, Tworogowo and Wessjolaja Gora also belong to the settlement.

history

The village of Jemelyanovo was founded in 1700 on the Siberian tract .

In 1936, as part of an administrative reform, it became the center of a Rajon, to which the entire area around the city of Krasnoyarsk belonged, until the territory to the right (south) of the Yenisei in 1983 was spun off into an independent Rajon with its center in Beryosovka .

In 1965 the place received urban-type settlement status.

Culture and sights

The Trinity Church ( Троицкая церковь / Troitskaja zerkow ) was built between 1798 and 1817 in Jemeljanowo .

The Krasnoe Kolzo (“Red Ring”) motorsport race track , which was opened in 2007 and was built in accordance with FIA specifications, is located near Tworogowo .

Economy and Infrastructure

In Jemeljanowo is the center of an agricultural area with grain and feed cultivation as well as cattle and pig farming.

The settlement is bypassed immediately south of the M53 highway , which connects Novosibirsk to Irkutsk via Krasnoyarsk . Ten kilometers west of Jemeljanowo is the Krasnoyarsk-Jemeljanowo airport, named after the place , the former home airport and hub of the airline KrasAir, which was dissolved in 2008 due to bankruptcy .
