The yemelyanovo international airport is an international airport near Krasnoyarsk in Russia . It is located 37 km northwest of Krasnoyarsk and is one of the few Siberian airports that can handle large aircraft such as the Airbus A380 or the Antonov An-225 . Not far from there is the Cheremshanka Airport for regional air traffic, the main building of which burned down completely on December 19, 2011.
Airlines and Destinations
Jemeljanowo Airport is served by international and domestic destinations. The largest and most important destinations include Moscow-Sheremetyevo , Beijing , Saint Petersburg and Moscow-Domodedovo . Most of the connections are within Russia. The largest airline is Aeroflot .
In the air freight industry, the airport is served by AirBridge Cargo . From here it has connections to Moscow , Leipzig and Incheon , among others , and since 2007 there have also been transpolar flights to America. The Lufthansa Cargo uses the airport for stopovers on flights to the Far East to refuel.
Incidents
- On November 17, 1942, a PS-84 of the Soviet Air Force crashed shortly after take-off due to overloading and icing of the wings and the fuselage. All 20 people on board were killed.
- On November 22, 1972, an Aeroflot Yakovlev Jak-40 crashed due to icing during take-off.
- On December 12, 1975 an Ilyushin Il-18 of Aeroflot missed the runway by 250 m due to bad weather. The nose and the left wing were destroyed. All inmates survived.
- On April 14, 1980 the landing gear of an Antonov 24B of Aeroflot broke during an emergency landing attempt .
- On December 23, 1984, the engine of an Aeroflot Tupolev Tu-154 caught fire two minutes after take-off at an altitude of 2040 m, causing the cockpit crew to lose control of the machine. Of the 111 inmates, 110 lost their lives.
- On January 20, 1995, an Abakan Airlines Let L-410 brushed trees 650 m from the runway and fell as a result. Three out of 19 people on board died.
