Scharypovo ( Russian Шарыпово , scientific transliteration Šarypovo ) is a city in Russia in the Krasnoyarsk Territory . It has had city status since 1981. The city is located on the Beresch River (Береш), 414 km west of Krasnoyarsk . It has 38,561 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
history
The Sharypovo settlement was established around 1760 at the point of confluence of the Temra (Темра) and Kadat (Кадат) rivers . Most of the streets started in a star shape from the church, which was in the center of the settlement at that time. In 1829 there were 294 people in Sharypovo. In the middle of the 19th century the population was 600.
From 1985 to 1988 the city was officially named Chernenko in honor of the statesman Konstantin Chernenko , who was born near Sharypovo.
Today the city is divided into two districts: the old, built with wooden houses, and the new, Scharypowo , which is characterized by prefabricated buildings .

The city is located near a lignite deposit from which the Beryosovskaya GRES thermal power station, located northwest of the city, is fed. There are also light industry companies.
