history
The Verbandsgemeinde Loreley was established in 1972 as part of a functional and territorial reform in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate .
In the course of the second municipal and administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate , which began in 2010 , the municipalities of Loreley and Braubach were merged on the basis of the so-called "voluntary phase" that ran until June 30, 2012. In unanimous resolutions, the municipal councils Loreley and Braubach had declared their will to voluntarily form a new municipality. According to the "State Law on the Voluntary Formation of the New Braubach-Loreley Association" enacted on December 20, 2011, the Loreley and Braubach communities were dissolved on July 1, 2012 and a new community under the provisional name "Braubach-Loreley Association" was formed. The administrative seat was St. Goarshausen.
According to the resolution of the Braubach-Loreley municipal council on October 25, 2012 and after approval by the state government, the new municipality was named Loreley on December 1, 2012 .
