Lykershausen is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Loreley , which has its administrative headquarters in St. Goarshausen .

history

Lykershausen was built between the 9th and 12th centuries. In 1110 it was first mentioned in a document as "Lyggershusen".

From the 14th century to 1802/1803 it belonged to the Boppard Oberamt in the Electorate of Trier . Therefore, the Reformation was never introduced there.

From 1806 it belonged to the Duchy of Nassau. As a result of the German War of 1866, the Duchy and Lykershausen were annexed by Prussia.

After the end of the First World War, Lykershausen was part of the French occupation zone until 1930 as part of the Allied occupation of the Rhineland .

On March 26, 1945 Lykershausen was taken by US troops.

Municipal council

The municipal council in Lykershausen consists of six council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

The local mayor of Lykershausen is Michael Kring. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, there were no applicants. In this case, the municipal code provides for an election by the municipal council. Michael Kring was elected on June 11, 2019. He is the successor to Hans Josef Kring, who held the office for 15 years.

Culture and sights

The historical water pump exhibited opposite the St. Johannes Church ( see Old Water Pump (Lykershausen) ), which took over the water supply from 1925 to 1968, is one of the sights of the Lykershausen community.

Buildings

St. John's Church (formerly St. Barbara Chapel).
On December 4, 1886, Pastor Endres von Kamp was able to open the new church of St. Consecrate John. Lykershausen has been part of the Dahlheim parish association since July 1, 1914 .
