Geographical location
Obernhof is located in the middle of the Nassau Nature Park . Depending on the bank of the Lahn, you are in the Taunus or in the Westerwald .
In Obernhof the Gelbach flows into the Lahn from the north and the Dörsbach from the south .
There is a railway connection through the Lahntalbahn .

The population developed as follows in the 19th and 20th centuries: 1843: 324 inhabitants, 1927: 309 inhabitants, 1964: 479 inhabitants.

Viticulture
Obernhof is one of the few remaining wine-growing communities on the Lahn and is therefore a specialty. Obernhof is part of the Middle Rhine wine-growing region . There are Pinot Noir , Regent and Riesling wines grown in the Upper Hofer Goethe mountain.

In Obernhof there is a train station on the Lahntalbahn , on which the trains of the regional train line RB 23 ( Lahn-Eifel-Bahn ) (Limburg (Lahn) - Diez - Bad Ems - Koblenz - Andernach - Mendig - Mayen Ost) of the Deutsche Bahn DB to the Rhineland-Palatinate cycle daily approx. every hour. Due to the location of Obernhof in the Rhein-Lahn district, the tariff of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Mosel VRM applies .
