Weidenbach is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the association of Nastaetten.
history
Weidenbach belonged to the Niedergrafschaft Katzenelnbogen and was subordinate to the Hohenstein Office and the Diethardt court . It belonged to their property until the dynasty of the Counts von Katzenelnbogen died out in 1479. Then it fell to the Landgraves of Hesse. The Reformation was introduced in 1527. In 1567 the area fell to Hessen-Rheinfels, 1583 to Hessen-Kassel.
From 1806 to 1813 the area was under French administration. After the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region and thus Weidenbach was assigned to the Duchy of Nassau on the basis of an exchange contract in 1816 . As a result of the so-called German War , the Duchy of Nassau was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia in 1866 .
Weidenbach has been part of the then newly created state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .
