Berghausen is a local community in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate , it is part of the Aar-Einrich association.
geography
The place is in the western Hintertaunus in the landscape of the Einrich near Katzenelnbogen . The residential areas Hof am Buchenbusch and Taunus-Sprudel also belong to Berghausen . The highest point near Berghausen is the Sandkopf at 401 m above sea level. NHN .
Neighboring villages are Dörsdorf (south), Allendorf (north-west) and Bonscheuer, a district of Mudershausen (north-east).
history
Berghausen is first mentioned in a document in 1260. The Counts of Katzenelnbogen were sovereigns of the Niedergrafschaft Katzenelnbogen and thus Berghausen as well until 1479 . The largest landlord in Berghausen was the Ferrutiusstift in Bleidenstadt until secularization . Since 1806 the place belonged to the Duchy of Nassau , from 1866 to the Kingdom of Prussia . Berghausen has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 . In 1972, in the course of the Rhineland-Palatinate “functional and territorial reform”, the community of Katzenelnbogen was formed, to which the local community of Berghausen belonged until 2019 and which then became part of the community of Aar-Einrich.
There is a mineral water spring in the village, the water of which was temporarily bottled and marketed under the brand name "Taunussprudel Katzenelnbogen".

Municipal council
The municipal council in Berghausen consists of six (up to the 2019 election eight) council members, who were elected in a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

The office of local mayor is vacant, Torsten Heuser was appointed as representative. The previous mayor Thomas Pfaff did not run again in the direct election on May 26, 2019. There was no other applicant either, and the local council has not yet been able to find a successor for Pfaff.
coat of arms
The coat of arms, which has been in use since 1980, shows a golden mountain with a golden house on the top. Above the house there is a golden sword and a golden lance, which cross each other. The coat of arms colors red and gold correspond to the colors of the Counts of Katzenelnbogen. Lance and sword refer to Saint Ferrutius . The house on the mountain is a " talking coat of arms ".
