Oberwallmenach is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the association of Nastaetten .
geography
Oberwallmenach is located in the Taunus (western Hintertaunus ). The residential areas Haus Soherr and Hof Sauerbornsweg also belong to the community .
history
Oberwallmenach was first mentioned in a document in 1260. The place belonged to the "Vierherrischen" area from the 13th century.
In 1775 the parish of Oberwallmenach with Lautert and Rettershain came into the possession of Hessen-Kassel . From 1806 to 1813 the place was part of the Lower County of Katzenelnbogen under French administration (" pays réservé "). After the Congress of Vienna (1815) the place fell to the Duchy of Nassau in 1816 . Since 1866 the place was part of Prussia and belonged to the Prussian province Hessen-Nassau . After the First World War , Oberwallmenach was occupied until the French withdrew in 1929. It was occupied by US troops on March 27, 1945. After the Second World War , the place also came into the French zone of occupation and since 1946 has belonged to the then newly created state of Rhineland-Palatinate . Since 1969 it has belonged to the Rhein-Lahn-Kreis , since 1972 Oberwallmenach has been a member of the association community Nastätten .

Municipal council
The council in Oberwallmenach consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the volunteer local mayor as chairman.

Anja Haibach is the local mayor of Oberwallmenach. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, there were no applicants. In this case, the municipal regulations provide for an election by the municipal council, which took place on September 10, 2019. Haibach is the successor to Ernst Lenz, who did not take up office again after 20 years.
