Dessighofen (dialect: "Dessje") is a local community in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Bad Ems-Nassau community .

geography

Dessighofen is located in the Taunus (western Hintertaunus ) on the Einrich , in the south-west of the municipality.

history

Dessighofen originally belonged to the Einrichgau and was first mentioned in 1145 in a document from the Schönau monastery .

Dessighofen had been in the condominium , later called “ Vierherrisches auf dem Einrich ” , since the 12th century , which was jointly owned by Hessen-Kassel and various lines from Nassau . Dornholzhausen was assigned to the Nassau-Saarbrückisches Quartier.

After the division of the "Vierherrischen" in 1774, the place came under the joint sovereignty of Nassau-Usingen and Nassau-Diez and was assigned to the Nassau office. From 1806 Dessighofen belonged to the Duchy of Nassau , which was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia in 1866 . Dessighofen came to the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau in 1868 and became part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946 .

Dessighofen has belonged to the Nassau community since 1972. On January 1, 2019, it was merged with the Bad Ems community to form the Bad Ems-Nassau community.

The population developed in the 19th and 20th centuries as follows: 1843: 128 inhabitants, 1927: 135 inhabitants, 1964: 128 inhabitants.

The council in Dessighofen consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Wilfried Ilgauds is the local mayor of Dessighofen. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was re-elected with 73.21% of the vote.
