Foundation of the coat of arms: The territorial affiliation of more than 500 years is reflected in the Prath community coat of arms . The lion of the Duchy of Nassau stands for a short but formative era, because the place was Nassau from 1803 to 1866. For the previous 450 years it belonged to the Electorate of Trier , which united secular and ecclesiastical power in one hand and is represented with the red bar cross. The golden chalice refers to the patron saint of church and community, St. Goar , who is represented with this attribute in the St. Goarer Stiftskirche . |
