Lollschied is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Bad Ems-Nassau community .

geography

Lollschied is located in the Nassau Nature Park . Lollschied to include the residential places Stemmelmühle, located at Hasenbach , and Waldschmidt mill, located at Dörsbach .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1260 in a certificate of inheritance from the Counts of Katzenelnbogen as "Lollenschieder Dinghof" and belonged to the "Vierherrischen" area from the 14th century . Later the place came back to the Counts of Katzenelnbogen and, after their extinction in 1479, to the Landgraves of Hesse. From 1567 to 1583 it belonged to Hessen-Rheinfels and then to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel . From 1806 to 1813 Lollschied was French as part of the “pays reserve”. After a short renewed affiliation to Hessen-Kassel, the village passed to the Duchy of Nassau in 1816 and was assigned to the Nassau office.

Most of the settlement burned down in 1842. Since 1866 part of the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau . After the end of the First World War, first American and later French troops occupied the place in 1918/1919. These stayed there until 1929. The place was electrified in 1923. In 1929 there was the first radio in the village, which was in the local school.

The Second World War ended for Lollschied around 10:00 on March 28, 1945 with the invasion of American troops. From June 1945 Lollschied belonged to the French occupation zone.

Since 1946 the place has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, since 1969 part of the Rhein-Lahn district and since 1972 part of the Nassau community, which was merged with Bad Ems to form the Bad Ems-Nassau community on January 1, 2019.

The population developed as follows in the 19th and 20th centuries: 1818: 162 inhabitants, 1843: 216 inhabitants, 1927: 208 inhabitants, 1964: 203 inhabitants.

The council in Lollschied consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Harald Breidenbach is the local mayor of Lollschied. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected with 55.46% of the vote and is the successor to Bernd von der Heydt, who did not run again.

The men's choir "Germania" has existed since 1872.

economy

Lollschied is now almost a residential community . The agriculture and timber industry that dominated in the past no longer plays a major role.
