history
Was first documented Berg 1260, when the county Katzenelnbogen among the brothers Diether V and Eberhard I was divided. Berg belonged to the " quadrilateral court " on the facility . In 1538 the Reformation was introduced. The quadrilateral court was divided in 1647. The parish of Marienfels , to which Berg belonged, was assigned to the Nassau-Diez district . In 1774 the Quadrilateral Court was finally dissolved, after which Berg was jointly owned by Nassau-Usingen and Nassau-Diez until 1806 . From 1806 to 1866 the place belonged to the Duchy of Nassau ( Amt Nastätten ), then to the Kingdom of Prussia (Province of Hessen-Nassau , Unterlahnkreis ).
After the end of the First World War, the site of the Allied occupation of the Rhineland was occupied by French soldiers until 1929.
The place was on 27./28. March 1945 captured by American troops. The place belonged to the French occupation zone even after the Second World War. Since 1946, Berg has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, since 1969 to the Rhein-Lahn district and since 1972 to the association of Nastätten.
The Steegsmühle was first mentioned in 1436, making it one of the oldest mills in the region. The first mention of mining in today's Bemarkung von Berg comes from the year 1582. Iron ore, lead, silver and gold were mined there. In 1685 a forge, a smelter and a weir to use water power were added. The metal processing was apparently stopped shortly afterwards. The Rauschenmühle, built in 1590, apparently used the building and the weir.
