Hainau is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the association of Nastaetten . Until January 31, 1971, the official name of the community was Pissighofen .

geography

Hainau is located in the Taunus (western Hintertaunus ) in the so-called Blue Ländchen .

history

The first written mention of Pischingehova , which means something like "to the courts of Piso", goes back to the year 922. The name underwent several changes over the years , from Bissingofin in 1250, to Pyssengoiben in 1340, Pißschengabe in 1361, Pissighoffen in 1526 to Pissighofen .

Name change

The community name "Pissighofen" was replaced on February 1, 1971 by the current name Hainau due to its connotation . Initial efforts to do this go back to the time after the First World War . In June 1970, in a popular vote, 147 residents voted for and 13 against a name change with eight abstentions.

The municipal council in Hainau consists of six council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Local mayor of Hainau is Carsten Schmidt. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was re-elected with 96.55% of the vote.
