Dienethal is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Bad Ems-Nassau community .
geography
The place is located in the Nassau Nature Park (Nassauer Land) and belongs to the western Hintertaunus . It lies in a side valley of the Lahn . The size of the community is about 1.39 km², of which 0.5 km² is forest on a predominantly steep hillside. Dienethal also includes the Herbelsmühle and Pfaffen-Mühle residential areas .
history
Dienethal was first mentioned in 1330. From 1430 Dienethal belonged to the Sponheim manor of Nievern , which was owned by the Nassau family for a long time . The place came to the Duchy of Nassau in 1806 . Since 1866 part of the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau , the place came to the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946 .
The population developed as follows in the 19th and 20th centuries: 1843: 131 inhabitants, 1927: 222 inhabitants, 1964: 264 inhabitants.

Municipal council
The municipal council in Dienethal consists of six council members who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman. Until 2009, the council had eight council members.

The local mayor of Dienethal is Andreas Ritter. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected with 88.19% of the vote and is the successor to Manfred Gleim, who did not run again.
Attractions
A church in Dienethal was first mentioned in 1372. Today's small church is characterized by the baroque style in its furnishings . Remains of 14th century frescoes were uncovered in the 1950s.
