Bremberg is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the municipality of Aar-Einrich .
Geographical location
Bremberg is located in the western Hintertaunus , above the left bank of the Lahn .
Parish parts
The Gasteyers-Mühle, Häuserhof, Neidhof, Rupbach and Steckenbergermühle residential areas also belong to Bremberg .
history
Bremberg is documented in 1156 as the court of Archbishop Hillin von Trier . Since 1806 the place belonged to the Duchy of Nassau , from 1866 to the Kingdom of Prussia . Since 1946 Bremberg has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate . In 1972, as part of the Rhineland-Palatinate “functional and territorial reform”, the community of Katzenelnbogen was formed, to which the local community of Bremberg belonged until 2019 and which was then merged into the community of Aar-Einrich.
In the 18th century a so-called winter school was set up. From 1817, the Nassau government established elementary schools in the villages for all children between the ages of 6 and 14.

Municipal council
The council in Bremberg consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman. Until the 2009 election, the council had eight councilors.

The local mayor of Bremberg is Matthias Meister. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected with a share of the vote of 86.14% and is the successor to Gerhard Schmittel, who held the office for 33 years until he was seriously ill.
