Hessenkolleg

Hesse colleges have since 1959 existing institutions of adult education , which in Hesse in three to three and a half years of training to high school , or in two to two and a half years of college entrance should lead. A specialty is the Hessenkolleg in Wiesbaden , where since 1998 the Abitur can be obtained in two years, including the introductory phase.

The Hessenkolleg Rüsselsheim was set up as the fifth college in 1964 and merged with the Hessenkolleg Wiesbaden in 1996.

Conditions for registration

In order to be accepted into a Hessenkolleg, the applicant must be at least 18 years old, have completed vocational training or have two years of professional experience. He must also have a secondary school diploma . The management of a family household is on an equal footing with employment ; unemployment is also counted towards the proof of employment for up to one year.

Admission to a Hessenkolleg takes place after a review of previous knowledge and a consultation with the school management . If necessary, a six-month preliminary course must be attended.

In contrast to the evening grammar school , lessons at a college are given during the day and thus correspond to lessons at normal schools .

Students in a college can apply for BAföG as they cannot pursue a job alongside their training.
