history

Rettert was first mentioned in 1250 and belonged to the four-man court on the Einrich in the middle of the 14th century . From 1777 on, Rettert was assigned to the common gentlemen Nassau-Weilburg and Nassau-Usingen. Since 1806 it belonged to the Duchy of Nassau , which was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia in 1866 . Rettert has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 . In 1972, as part of an administrative reform, the Verbandgemeinde Katzenelnbogen was formed , to which the local parish Rettert belonged until 2019 and which then merged into the Verbandsgemeinde Aar-Einrich.

Heiko Heymann is the local mayor of Rettert. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was re-elected with 87.45% of the vote. Heymann was directly elected for the first time on March 13, 2016 with 85.1 percent of the vote, after predecessor Heike Pfeifer resigned from office in 2015.
