Oberwies is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Bad Ems-Nassau community .
geography
Oberwies is located in the Taunus (western Hintertaunus ) southwest of Nassau. The residential areas Dörstheck and Gieshübel also belong to the community .
history
Oberwies (originally Eberwies) came in the 14th century to " Vierherrischen " dish on the Einrich . In 1775 the place came to the triple authority Nassau. Temporarily occupied by French troops ("pays reserve"), the place belonged from 1816 to the Duchy of Nassau . Since 1866 part of the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau , the place became part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946 . The community has been part of the Nassau community since 1972.
The population developed as follows in the 19th and 20th centuries: 1843: 100 inhabitants, 1927: 129 inhabitants, 1964: 148 inhabitants.
