About this picture

Oberbachheim is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It has about 200 inhabitants and is a member of the association community of Nastätten .

history

Oberbachheim was probably already settled in Franconian times . The place was first mentioned in 1145 as Bacheim as an estate of the Schönau monastery , whereby it can be assumed that this estate was in Niederbachheim. Niederbachheim and Oberbachheim were first distinguished in a document in 1361 by the addition of Ober and Nieder .

Oberbachheim has an eventful history. At first the place belonged to the Einrichgau in the possession of the Count of Arnstein. Later it went to the Lords of Isenburg and in 1160 to the Counts of Nassau and the Counts of Katzenelnbogen and thus became part of the quadrilateral . In 1479 the Landgraves of Hesse inherited the goods from Oberbachheim and in 1667 the place was under Hessian administration through the Reichenberg Office. In 1774 the place came to Hessen-Kassel because of the dissolution of the quadrilateral and was now administered by the Nastaetten office. From 1806 to 1813 it was finally under French rule and came to the Duchy of Nassau in 1815 through the exchange of Kurhessen . Here it was subordinated to the Braubach Office in 1816 . It belonged to Prussia from 1866, only to become part of the current state of Rhineland-Palatinate after 1945 .
