Netzbach is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the municipality of Aar-Einrich .

geography

Netzbach is located in the Taunus eight kilometers south of Limburg an der Lahn directly on the border with Hesse . The Kaltenbach rises one kilometer as the crow flies south-east of Netzbach , after three kilometers it flows through the village in a westward direction and flows another three kilometers downstream at Oberneisen into the Aar . A section of the Aar-Höhenweg leads through the Kaltenbachtal.

Netzbach also includes the Karlshof and Talblick residential areas .

history

The first known documentary mention of Netzbach as Nezebach dates back to 1092.

In 1511 a mill was built. The mill was operated with water from the Kaltenbach, the weir was also used to irrigate grassland. However, the mill has not been in operation for several decades. The building in Mühlengasse is now used as a residential building.

The medieval Hessenstrasse long-distance trade route ran through Netzbach and once connected Katzenelnbogen , St. Goarshausen , St. Goar , Wetzlar , Gießen and Marburg .

The earlier importance of mining can still be recognized by field names such as iron pits . The iron ore was mined and smelted by the farmers in the Middle Ages. In the 19th century, iron was mined by a mining company in the Phönix colliery , the Liefeld mine and the Lückerberg colliery . Iron ore mining was stopped in 1870. In addition, lime was mined in Netzbach in the 19th century .

The first school building was built in Netzbach in 1869. Today the town hall is located there. In 1961 the new school building was completed, which was converted into a multi-purpose hall in 1965.

Netzbach belonged to the Duchy of Nassau from 1806 to 1866 . In 1866 Netzbach came to the Prussian province of Hesse-Nassau and was part of the French occupation zone after the Second World War . In 1946 the place became part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Nine house communities are guaranteed for 1526, 17 men for 1643 and 116 inhabitants for 1800. The population developed as follows in the 19th and 20th centuries: 1843: 177 inhabitants, 1927: 255 inhabitants, 1964: 280 inhabitants.

Since then, Netzbach has been the catchment area of ​​the elementary school and regional school in Hahnstätten. The school building now serves as a multi-purpose hall.
