history

In the easternmost tip of the district, which extends to the B 260 , was the small Roman fort Pfarrhofen .

Miehlen was first mentioned in a document in 1131, at that time as "Milene".

From 1132 Miehlen belonged to the Count of Laurenburg-Nassau . From the 13th century it belonged to the "Zweiherrischen", a condominium that was ruled jointly by Nassau-Weilburg and Nassau-Idstein . In 1475 the place got market rights and there were cattle and junk markets five times a year. In 1541 the Reformation was introduced in the Zweiherrischen and thus in Miehlen . During the Thirty Years War 1618-1648 Miehlen was badly devastated and was practically extinct in 1635/1636. The diaries of the evangelical pastor Plebanus have been preserved from this time, who reports of looting, epidemics, famine, atrocities and cannibalism.

Miehlen was the official seat of Nassau until the 19th century .

The dichotomy existed until 1803.

In 1806 the village became part of the Duchy of Nassau and was part of the Nastätten office . After the German-German War in 1866 , the Duchy of Nassau became part of the Kingdom of Prussia .

After the end of the First World War , Miehlen belonged to the French zone of occupation until 1929 .

During March 28, 1945, Miehlen was occupied by American troops and then also came to the French zone of occupation .

In 1946 Miehlen became part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In 1969 the place came to the Rhein-Lahn-Kreis.
