Lipporn is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the association of Nastaetten .

geography

The place is located in the Taunus and has an area of ​​4.80 km². Lipporn, together with the neighboring villages of Welterod and Strüth, is part of the Vogtei.

history

Approximately in 1117 the presumed progenitor rendered the House of Nassau, Count Dudo of Laurenburg , goods to Lipporn the Benedictine Abbey of St. Salvator in Schaffhausen to establish a convent in Lipporn, this was later with the neighboring town Strüth located monastery Schoenau combined into a double monastery. From 1541 to 1544 the Reformation was introduced in Strüth, Welterod and Lipporn. The Schönau monastery remained Catholic. During the Thirty Years War the place was looted several times. In 1806 the place came into the possession of the Duchy of Nassau , which was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia in 1866 .

After the First World War , the place was located in a small area, the so-called Bottleneck Free State, between the zones of occupation of the Americans and French until 1923 . After the Second World War it was part of the French occupation zone . Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly created state of Rhineland-Palatinate .
