The population developed as follows in the 19th and 20th centuries: 1843: 382 inhabitants, 1927: 417 inhabitants, 1964: 387 inhabitants.

The community council in Seelbach consists of eight council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.
