Ruppertshofen is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is located in the Taunus and belongs to the Nastaeten municipality .

history

Ruppertshofen was mentioned in a document in 1364 as owned by the Counts of Katzenelnbogen .

Ruppertshofen belonged to the Niedergrafschaft Katzenelnbogen and was subordinate to the Reichenberg office. The parish and court of Ruppertshofen also included the places Bogel , Kasdorf ( Castorff ), Hainau ( Pissighofen ), Himmighofen and Oelsberg ( Oehlsberg ). After the counts of Katzenelnbogen died out in 1479, it fell to the Landgraviate of Hesse; Landgrave Philip I introduced the Reformation in 1527. In 1567 it fell to Hessen-Rheinfels, since 1583 it belonged to Hessen-Kassel. During the 30-year war, the area briefly belonged to Hessen-Darmstadt, and from 1647/1648 back to Hessen-Kassel.

From 1806 to 1813 the area was under French administration. After the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region and thus also Ruppertshofen were assigned to the Duchy of Nassau on the basis of an exchange contract in 1816 . In 1861 a synagogue was built in the village.

As a result of the so-called German War , the Duchy of Nassau was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia in 1866 . After the end of the First World War, the site of the Allied occupation of the Rhineland was occupied by French soldiers until 1929.

At the end of the Second World War , on March 27, 1945, American troops took Ruppertshofen. Even after the Second World War, it belonged to the French occupation zone.

Since 1946, Ruppertshofen has been part of the then newly established state of Rhineland-Palatinate , since 1969 part of the Rhein-Lahn district, and since 1972 part of the Nastätten community.

Foundation of the coat of arms: The place belonged to the Count von Katzenelnbogen, who obtained city rights for him on October 7, 1364. After its attack on the Landgraviate of Hesse (1479), the S (IGEL) LANDGRAFFISCHS GERICHT ZV RVPEHOFE was created in 1544, which shows the Hessian lion turning to the left. The Hessian colors have been added for the coat of arms. After its transfer to Nassau (1816), the community, which, despite its city privilege, had not been able to develop into a city, used seals of letters.
