geography

The place is in the foothills of the Taunus (western Hintertaunus ), on the federal road 274 between Wiesbaden and Koblenz . Bogel also includes the Birkenhof, Tannenhof and Waldeck residential areas .

history

Bogel is mentioned in 1472 as a fiefdom of the Imperial Abbey of Prüm and sold to Landgrave Ernst von Hessen-Rheinfels after 1670 . From 1806 to 1813, Bogel was under French rule. Since 1816 the place belonged to the Duchy of Nassau and from 1866 to the Kingdom of Prussia .

After the First World War , Bogel was occupied until the French withdrew in 1929; after the Second World War it also belonged to the French zone of occupation and since 1946 has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Since 1969 Bogel has belonged to the Rhein-Lahn district and since 1972 to the community of Nastätten.
