|
Justification for the coat of arms: The sloping bar cross and the four small crosses are taken from the coat of arms of the Lords of Merenberg . Hartrad von Merenberg and Mrs. Irmgard donated the tithe to Obertiefenbach, Brusterbach (Hof Spriestersbach) and Bettendorf to the Arnstein Monastery according to a document from 1163 confirmed by the Archbishop of Trier . The silver wave bar symbolizes the course of the brook, to which the community partly owes its name, and the watchtower points to the Limes . Remains of this Roman fortification can still be seen in the Obertiefenbach district.
The gold and blue correspond to the colors of the Merenberg coat of arms and the Nassauer Land. The color silver was also used for the symbolic representation of the stream. |
