Julius Haxel

Julius Haxel (born March 31, 1904 in Obernhof ; † February 21, 1983 in Bad Ems ) was a German farmer , winemaker and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Haxel was born the son of a farmer. After attending primary school in Obernhof, he completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith. In 1930 he took over his parents' farm, which in the following years he specialized in viticulture. In 1922 he joined the SPD, for which he was a member of the Obernhof municipal council until 1933. After 1933 was a member of the NSDAP . From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He was most recently taken prisoner, from which he was released at the end of 1945.

After his return, Haxel worked again as an independent farmer and winemaker in Obernhof. In addition, he worked as chairman of the local farmers and winegrowers' association. He had been a member of the Social Democrats again since 1946 and was elected chairman of the SPD local association Obernhof. He continued his work in local politics ; he was again a member of the municipal council and first alderman in Obernhof, member of the district council and until 1964 member of the district committee of the Unterlahn district .

In the state elections in 1955 , 1959 and 1963 , Haxel was elected to the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament via the SPD's state list. In the state elections in April 1967 he did not win a seat, but on October 12, 1967 he was able to move up to the state parliament, to which he was a member until 1971, for Willi Peiter , who left the parliament. In Parliament he was a member of the Agricultural Policy Committee from 1955 to 1959, from 1955 to 1967 a member of the Viticulture and Wine Industry Committee and from 1967 to 1971 a member of the Petitions Committee.

Julius Haxel was married and had five children.
