The old water pump from Lykershausen is a Lambach pump of the type L and served from 1925 to 1968 for the water supply of the Lykershausen community . It was made by the machine factory Wilhelm Lambach from Marienheide . Due to the drying up of the community's well in 1921 and further unsuccessful attempts to secure the water supply through a collecting shaft on the outskirts, the decision was made to obtain water from a spring in the valley area of the Fußborner Wiesen. For this purpose, between 1925 and 1926, the two water pipes (source Fußborn → Gutenbachtal pump and Gutenbachtal pump → elevated reservoir)in the Heiligeneck). Driven by 2/3 of the volume of water pumped, it pumped the water from the source in the Gutenbachtal to an elevated tank in the Heiligeneck. The amount required for propulsion was then diverted to Kamp-Bornhofen and the castles of Sterrenberg and Liebenstein until 1986 . The actually pumped to high container 1/3 the amount of feed were via a sealed with lead sleeves provided casting line promoted (80 mm ø =). Due to its susceptibility to failure, the pump was finally shut down in 1968 and replaced by an electric submersible pump 42 meters deep in the drained well from 1921 , which is still responsible for the water supply today.

Technical specifications:

  • 2 working cylinders (piston diameter 25 cm)
  • 2 delivery cylinders (piston diameter 20 cm)
  • Weight of the pump: ≈4 t
  • Pump output: 250 l / minute
  • Height difference source - pump: ≈40 m
  • Height difference pump - elevated tank: ≈116 m

Initiated by the suggestion made in 1988 by the then mayor Rudolf Schneider to recover them, this project, further developed by the incumbent mayor Hans-Josef Kring in 2007, was implemented in 2008. Today it is exhibited together with an explanatory board opposite the St. Johanneskirche on the Löschwasserteich in Lykershausen.
