School pastoral

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

School pastoral care refers to the pastoral work of the Christian churches in schools. This area of responsibility can be carried out by a religion teacher at a school and / or by a person who is not part of the school.

If a religion teacher performs this task, she can be released for this task under certain circumstances; that means she has fewer lessons to teach and can use this time for school pastoral tasks. Depending on the size of the school (number of students), this can be one, two or a maximum of three hours.

In the federal state of Lower Saxony, a distinction is made between Protestant school pastoral care and Catholic school pastoral care with different concepts, different qualification measures and different focus areas.
