Stephan Weinberg (born November 11, 1975 in Groß-Gerau ) is a German administrative lawyer and politician ( SPD ) and has been State Secretary in the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Finance since 2016 .

Stephan Weinberg studied law at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. He passed his second state examination in 2003 at the Higher Regional Court in Koblenz. His doctorate dealt with a topic of local law: "The participation of local authorities in the standard-setting process in Rhineland-Palatinate". After a short time as a lawyer, Stephan Weinberg was hired by the Rhineland-Palatinate tax administration in 2004. After one year of training, he was qualified for the higher tax administration service. He initially worked for two years at the Rhineland-Palatinate State Representation in Berlin as a consultant, responsible for the Ministry of Finance. He then worked as a personnel officer in the Mainz Ministry of Finance. After this time he was seconded to the Ministry of the Environment for a year. This was followed by an activity as a consultant for Federal Council affairs and the conference of finance ministers in the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Finance. From 2011 to 2014 he was the office manager of Minister Carsten Kühl and then from 2014 to 2016 of Minister Doris Ahnen .

On May 18, 2016, Prime Minister Malu Dreyer appointed him State Secretary in the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Finance .

He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Investment and Structural Bank Rhineland-Palatinate and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lotto Rhineland-Palatinate .

Life

Stephan Weinberg has been a member of the SPD since 1994. Among other things, he was a member of the Seeheim-Jugenheim municipal council from 1997 to 2003 .

He lives in Mainz , is married and has two children.
