Alexander Wilhelm (* 1967 ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He is State Secretary in the Ministry for Social Affairs, Labor, Health and Demography of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and a direct candidate of the SPD for the state election in 2021 in constituency 12 (Mayen) .

Education, work and family

Alexander Wilhelm passed his Abitur in 1987 at the State New Language High School, now Megina-Gymnasium Mayen . He then completed his military service before starting his law studies at the University of Passau in 1988 . He continued his studies in 1990 at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , which he completed in 1994 with the first state examination in law. In 1996 the second state examination at the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz followed . From 1996 to 1997, he received a doctoral scholarship at the Graduate College for Environmental and Technology Law at the University of Trier and was employed in the higher service of the tax administration of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate . In 2002 Wilhelm completed his doctorate as Dr. jur. at the University of Trier with Peter Marburger . Two years later he took over the management of the Mayen tax office.

In 2005, Alexander Wilhelm switched to the Ministry of Finance of Rhineland-Palatinate as a consultant . In 2010 he became office manager of the then finance minister Carsten Kühl and in 2011 he was promoted to head of the central department.

Since May 1, 2018, Alexander Wilhelm has been State Secretary in the Ministry of Social Affairs, Labor, Health and Demography under Minister Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler .

He is the chairman of the board of the local association Spay and deputy chairman of the district association Mayen-Koblenz of the SPD .

At the constituency conference on March 6, 2020 in Mayen, Alexander Wilhelm was nominated with 100 percent of the valid votes as a direct candidate of the SPD in constituency 12 for the state election in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2021.
