Peter Marburger

Peter Marburger (born February 18, 1940 in Laasphe ; † March 22, 2018 ) was a German law scholar and professor at the University of Trier .

Live and act

Marburger started studying law at the University of Marburg in 1959 , which he then continued at the University of Cologne . In 1964 he passed his first state examination in law in Cologne. He then became a research assistant at Bernhard Rehfeldt's chair in Cologne and completed his legal clerkship at the same time. In 1968 Marburger passed his second state examination. A year later, he was awarded the title of the Causal Acknowledgment of Debt as a unilateral declaration contract for Dr. iur. PhD. As a result, Marburger worked for a short time as a judge at the Cologne Regional Court before returning to the University of Cologne as a research assistant to Uwe Diederichsen . In 1970 he followed Diederichsen to the University of Göttingen . Marburger completed his habilitation there in 1978. In the same year he followed the call of the University of Trier to the chair for civil law, commercial and economic law and civil procedural law. He held this position until his retirement in 2005.

Marburger carried out research in the context of and in relation to the topics of his chair, primarily on environmental, nuclear and technology law. His commitment in this area culminated in 1989 with the establishment of the Institute for Environmental and Technology Law at the University of Trier, whose director Marburger served until 2011.
