history

The Swiss School São Paulo Association was founded in 1965. Classes began in 1966 with 53 students in the Brooklin neighborhood . A year later, with the patronage of the canton of Basel-Stadt, recognition by the Swiss government followed. Due to the increasing number of students, the school had to be expanded. In 1970 the school year started in the newly built school building on Rua Visconde de Porto Seguro, in the Santo Amaro district , where it is still located today. Since 1975 the students have graduated with the Brazilian secondary school certificate and since 1984 with the Swiss Matura from the secondary school at the Swiss School São Paulo. In 1996 the school joined the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Since 1999 the middle school students have been getting the IB diploma. In 2000, the São Paulo Swiss School integrated the Curitiba Swiss School , whose sponsoring association was dissolved. The sponsoring association of the São Paulo Swiss School was increased by members from the former Curitiba sponsoring association and has been renamed the Association of Swiss Schools in Brazil .

Educational offer

The São Paulo Swiss School offers bilingual lessons at all levels and leads from kindergarten through primary school to secondary level I and high school. The pupils complete the high school level with the Brazilian final certificate and the IB diploma. This gives them access to universities and colleges in Brazil, Switzerland and numerous other countries.

Every year the Swiss schools in São Paulo and Curitiba organize a business week together with the Ernst Schmidheiny Foundation. During this week, the two high school classes run several fictional companies with a fictitious product they have developed themselves. Swiss professionals coach the "young entrepreneurs" with regard to possible reactions to market influences while simulating business conditions. In addition, the Swiss specialists provide theoretical inputs that can be tried out in practice in the simulation.
