Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera

The Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) are official certificates to prove Spanish language skills, which the Instituto Cervantes awards on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science.

The exams for obtaining these certificates are offered in six levels of difficulty, according to the Common European Framework of Reference :

  • The DIPLOMA DE ESPAÑOL - NIVEL A1 is proof of the following elementary knowledge of the Spanish language : being able to understand and use everyday expressions and very simple sentences aimed at satisfying specific basic needs (e.g. questions about the person, introducing oneself, etc.).
  • The DIPLOMA DE ESPAÑOL - NIVEL A2 is valid as proof of the following elementary knowledge of the Spanish language: Understand everyday, simple and frequently used sentences and expressions aimed at satisfying various basic needs, provide and answer information on, for example, the areas of families, shopping, hobbies, Job.
  • The DIPLOMA DE ESPAÑOL - NIVEL B1 is valid as proof of basic knowledge of the Spanish language, which is necessary for oral and written communication and allows for simply structured conversations.
  • The DIPLOMA DE ESPAÑOL - NIVEL B2 is proof of a very good general knowledge of the Spanish language, which is required in everyday life .
  • The DIPLOMA DE ESPAÑOL - NIVEL C1 is proof of very good language skills, which enable communication in any situation, even if the subject areas are abstract or complex.
  • The DIPLOMA DE ESPAÑOL - NIVEL C2 is proof of excellent knowledge of the Spanish language, which enables communication at a higher level.

The exams for the certificates are created and evaluated by the University of Salamanca in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes.

recognition

The recognition is international and applies equally in the university sector and in the professional world. In Spain, the certificates are recognized by universities as well as public and private institutions as official proof of qualification. The exams can be taken at more than 700 institutions in more than 100 countries worldwide. Their validity is unlimited.
