Uwe Diederichsen

Uwe Diederichsen (born July 18, 1933 in Hanover ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

After studying and doing his doctorate in Kiel , he completed his habilitation in Munich with Karl Larenz . From 1966 he was a full professor at the University of Cologne . From 1970 he was a full professor for civil law and civil procedural law , commercial law and legal methodology at the University of Göttingen . In 1999 he retired . Diederichsen has been a member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences since 1988 .

Act

As an employee of the Civil Code - commentary Palandt he was in this work since the 33rd edition (1974) to the 58th edition in charge of the whole area of family law . Since the 59th edition (2000), he has been in charge of sections 2 ( relationship ) and 3 ( guardianship , care , guardianship ). Since then, the former judge at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court, Gerd Brudermüller, has taken over the commentary on Section 1 (civil marriage ). With the 71st edition (2012) Diederichsen completed his work at the Palandt after 39 editions, the Munich family judge Isabell Götz continues his work at the Palandt.

Among his students are Ulrich Foerste and Gerhard Wagner .

Diederichsen was a member of the Federal Ministry of Justice's Law of Obligations Commission and played a key role in reforming German law of obligations . In particular, the concept of breach of duty as a central element of §§ 280 ff BGB goes back to him.

Diederichsen is a member of the convent at Bursfelde Monastery .
