Mykola Mykolaivich Miltschew ( Ukrainian Микола Миколайович Мільчев ; born November 3, 1967 in Odessa ) is a Ukrainian sports shooter who was Olympic champion in throwing target shooting in the discipline of skeet in 2000 .

Career

Milchev began shooting sports in 1983. In his first World Cup participation in 1994, he finished 93rd. In 1999 he won the silver medal at the European Championships in Poussan. He was also runner-up in the 2000 World Cup in Cairo. At the Olympic Games in Sydney he managed a flawless run. He moved into the final with 125 hits in 125 shots and hit 25 of 25 in the final. He won the gold medal ahead of the Czech Petr Málek with 148 hits and the US shooter James Graves with 147 hits.

Four years later he missed the finals at the Olympic Games in Athens as ninth in the preliminary fight with 121 hits . In 2006 Milchev was second at the World Cup in Suhl and took fourth place at the World Championships in Zagreb. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , he achieved only 109 hits in the preliminary fight and finished 32nd. In 2009 he won the World Cup in Cairo with 125 goals in the preliminary fight and 23 goals in the final, in 2010 he finished second in Beijing and third in Acapulco. In 2012 he finished second at the World Cup in both London and Tucson.

In 2015 Milchev took fifth place at the European Championships and in 2016 he won the World Cup in Nicosia. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he was the flag bearer for the Ukrainian team at the opening ceremony. In the Olympic competition he qualified with 122 hits for the final and there with 15 hits for the battle for bronze. He lost this with 14 hits against 16 hits for Abdullah Al-Rashidi from Kuwait, who was competing under a neutral flag .
