Abdullah Al-Rashidi ( Arabic عبد الله الراشدي, DMG ʿAbd Allāh ar-Rāšidī ; * August 21, 1963 in Kuwait City ) is a Kuwaiti marksman .

successes

Abdullah Al-Rashidi participated in six Olympic Games in the skeet . In 1996 he finished 42nd in Atlanta , four years later he improved to 14th. The 2004 Games he finished in Athens in eighth place, the 2008 Games in Beijing he finished seventh after missing the final again. In 2012 he did not get past 21st place in London . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he started as an Independent Olympian due to the suspension of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee , he scored 123 points and qualified first for the semifinals. With 14 hits, he had to jump off, in which he narrowly prevailed and entered the duel for bronze. In this he got 16 hits, while Mykola Milchev had 14 hits behind, so that Al-Rashidi won the bronze medal.

At the 1989 World Championships in Montecatini Terme , he won bronze with the team in a double trap. In 1995 in Nicosia , 1997 in Lima and 1998 in Barcelona he was world champion in skeet singles. He also secured bronze in Belgrade in 2011 . With the Skeet team, he finished third in 1999 in Tampere . At the continental level, Al-Rashidi was also very successful: in 1995, 1999, 2004, 2007, 2009 and 2012 he was Asian champion in skeet and came second four more times. At the Asian Games , he won the silver medal in singles in Bangkok in 1998 , before winning gold in both Guangzhou in 2010 and Incheon in 2014 . In the team competition in 1994 in Hiroshima he won his first medal at the Asian Games with bronze. Just four years later he won the gold medal with the team. In 2006 in Doha , 2010 in Guangzhou and 2014 in Incheon, he took second place in the team competition.

Al-Rashidi is married and has four children. His son Talal Al-Rashidi , who Al-Rashidi looks after as a trainer, is also a marksman and has already been team world champion in the trap. In addition to sports shooting, Al-Rashidi works as a professional falconer .
