The Kohl III cabinet was the eleventh cabinet of the state government of Rhineland-Palatinate after the Second World War. It began on May 20, 1975 and was replaced by the Vogel I cabinet on December 2, 1976.
The reason for the short term in office was that Helmut Kohl switched to federal politics : he was the Union's candidate for chancellor in the federal election on October 3, 1976 , was elected to the Bundestag for the first time and then resigned as Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate .
