Heike Taubert (born November 14, 1958 in Reichenbach im Vogtland ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2004 to 2020 she was a member of the Thuringian state parliament and from December 5, 2014 to February 5, 2020, Thuringia's finance minister and deputy to the prime minister in the Ramelow I cabinet . On March 4, 2020, she was reappointed Finance Minister in the Ramelow II cabinet .

From November 2009 to December 2014 Taubert was Minister of Social Affairs in the Lieberknecht cabinet . She was the top candidate of the SPD Thuringia in the state elections in 2014 .

education and profession

After graduating from high school (1977) Taubert attended the TU Dresden (1982), where she graduated as a qualified engineer for information technology . Until 1986 she worked as a measurement and test equipment engineer at VEB Elektronik Gera . From 1990 to 1995 she was the treasurer of the city of Ronneburg , where she still lives today. From 1995 to 2001 she worked as deputy district administrator and district councilor of the Greiz district and then until 2004 as deputy district administrator and district officer of the Saale-Orla district . From July 2004 to May 2020 Taubert was a member of the Thuringian state parliament.

In February 1990 Taubert joined the SPD. In 1999 she was elected deputy SPD state chairwoman and in 2003 chairwoman of the SPD district association in Greiz. Since 2004 she has been a Member of the council of the district Greiz ; until December 31, 2009 she was also a member of the city council of Ronneburg / Thuringia. In November 2018, after 19 years at the state party conference in Arnstadt, she did not run again as deputy state chairwoman. Instead, she was elected as an assessor.

In the state elections in Thuringia in 2004 , Taubert was elected to the Thuringian state parliament for the first time. As the spokeswoman for local and health policy for the SPD parliamentary group , she was appointed a member of the interior committee in the Thuringian parliament. Until her appointment to the state government, she was one of three deputy chairmen of the SPD parliamentary group.

In 2006 she ran for office as district administrator in the Greiz district, but was narrowly defeated by the incumbent Martina Schweinsburg (CDU) in the runoff election .

After her re-election to the state parliament in August 2009 , Taubert was appointed Thuringian Minister for Social Affairs, Family and Health on November 4, 2009 by Prime Minister Christine Lieberknecht ( Lieberknecht cabinet ).

On January 8, 2014, the top of the Thuringian SPD nominated Taubert as the top candidate for the state elections in the fall of that year. Despite heavy losses in the state elections, the SPD managed to remain in government after the state elections by participating in a red-red-green coalition ; On December 5th, Taubert was appointed Finance Minister and his deputy by Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow ( Die Linke ).
