history

Between 1920 and 1945 there was a Ministry of Finance in the state of Thuringia (1920–1952) . After Thuringia was founded on May 1, 1920, the Yellow Palace in Weimar became the seat of the Thuringian Ministry of Finance . It existed as the central state authority from December 3, 1920 to June 12, 1945. As a demonstration of the National Socialist leader principle, it was named “The Thuringian Finance Minister” from August 1934. His responsibilities extended to state assets and state domains , state debts , state taxes, structural construction of state buildings, forests and non-state forests, state commercial enterprises, state civil servants and civil servants' salaries as well as surveying and cadastral affairs, the latter moved to the interior department in December 1926. During the Second World War , the interior of the Yellow Castle was almost completely destroyed by a heavy bomb hit.

When the state of Thuringia was re-established in 1990, another finance ministry was set up, this time in Erfurt.
