Edmund Hein

Edmund Hein (born August 13, 1940 in Nalbach ) is a German economist and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Linz on the Rhine , Hein began studying economics at Saarland University , which he completed in 1964 with a degree in economics. He worked at the state center for political education and at the state employment office, in 1967 he moved to the press office of the Saarland Ministry of Public Works and then worked in the state planning authority. He later worked as a consultant in adult education.

Political party

Hein joined the Junge Union in 1960 and joined the CDU in 1961. From 1972 to 1980 he was chairman of the CDU Saarlouis - Steinrausch and then until 1991 district chairman of the CDU Saarlouis.

MP

Hein was a council member of the Schwalbach community from 1968 to 1970 and a council member of the city ​​of Saarlouis from 1979 to 1984 . He belonged to the district council of the Saarlouis district and was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there from 1974 to 1981. From 1970 to 1994 he was a member of the Saarland state parliament , from 1975 to 1980 and from 1985 chairman of the budget and finance committee and from 1977 to 1984 deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

Public offices

In the course of a cabinet reshuffle on July 10, 1984, Hein was appointed Saarland Minister of Finance in the state government led by Prime Minister Werner Zeyer . After the CDU lost the state elections in 1985, he left the government on March 12, 1985 and was replaced in his ministerial office by Hans Kasper .

Honors

Hein was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit on January 24, 1995 .
