Konrad Schön

Konrad Schön (born May 7, 1930 in Mannheim ) is a German university professor and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduation Fine took a degree in law and philosophy at the universities of Freiburg , Paris and Heidelberg on which he awarded the degree of Dr. phil. ended under Karl Löwith . From 1954 to 1957 he worked as an assistant manager at Dresdner Bank , then took up a position as a director of studies at the Europa-Haus Marienberg and was director of studies at the European Academy in Otzenhausen in 1960/61 . Since 1961 he has been teaching as a lecturer at the Catholic Peter Wust University in Saarbrücken, one of the two denominational universities of education in Saarland. After merging with the Protestant Comenius University in December 1969 to form the Saarland University of Education, he was given a chair for political science and didactics of political education. After the dissolution of the University of Education in 1978, Schön moved to the Saarland University , where he devoted himself to his subject with an additional focus on European politics. Together with Jürgen Domes , he represented political science in the law and economics faculty.

Political party

Schön has been a member of the CDU since 1949.

MP

Schön belonged to the Saarland state parliament from 1970 to 1975 and was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there from 1973/74. From 1979 to 1989 he was a member of the European Parliament .

Public offices

On January 23, 1974, Schön was appointed Minister of Finance to succeed Alfred Wilhelm in the Saarland government led by Prime Minister Franz-Josef Röder . After the formation of a coalition of CDU and FDP , he left the government on March 1, 1977 and was replaced in his ministerial office by Ferdi Behles . He then acted as the regional government's representative for European issues.
