The Europahaus Marienberg is an educational and meeting place in Bad Marienberg in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It was founded in 1951 and aims at European encounters and educational work. A non-profit foundation has been responsible for this since 1975, the founders of which are the Europa-Haus Marienberg eV association and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The association Europa-Haus Marienberg eV was founded on October 19, 1951. It was founded on the commitment of young Europeans who wanted to create a place of encounter and European education.

Co-founder was the German journalist Claus Schöndube , who remained connected to the house until his death in 2007. To this day he is listed as an honorary member of the Board of Trustees.

The association continues to this day as a co-sponsor of the public foundation under civil law Europa-Haus Marienberg and is recognized as a non-profit organization.

The public foundation under civil law Europa-Haus Marienberg was set up in order to secure the work of the house as an educational institution in the long term . It was established on September 30, 1975. Joint donors are the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and Europa-Haus Marienberg eV The foundation is also recognized as a non-profit organization and is politically and denominationally independent. The purpose according to the statutes is to maintain the educational establishment with the aim of promoting encounters, especially among young people from all nations, and promoting supranational cooperation between all peoples.

The Board of Trustees determines the guidelines for the Foundation's activities. The seven members are appointed by the Prime Minister of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate, three of them at the proposal of the association.

The Europahaus Marienberg is the parent company of over 100 European stores in 30 European countries.

Seminar offer

According to the company's own information, more than 300,000 participants attended the company's seminars up to and including 2013. During this time, more than 6,500 seminars took place. The most important non-German countries of origin of the participants were named France , Italy , Croatia , Luxembourg , Poland , Slovakia , Slovenia , the Czech Republic and Hungary .

Youth work

The house has set a focus of its work on European youth work. The house sees itself as a discussion and information forum for young people from all over Europe who want to promote the discussion of current issues of European politics.

School newspapers

Since 1975 the house has been running seminars and study trips for school newspaper makers together with the responsible ministry in Rhineland-Palatinate . The house sees itself as the market leader in such seminars. However, it must be noted that the seminars offered in this area are primarily aimed at teachers and school working groups from Rhineland-Palatinate. The orientation of the Europa-Haus Marienberg cannot be compared with the goals of the youth press associations.
