Peter Jacoby (2009)

Peter Jacoby (born April 27, 1951 in Saarbrücken ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He was Minister of Finance from 1999 to 2012 and also Deputy Prime Minister of the Saarland from 1999 to 2009 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Jacoby completed a law and social science degree and graduated as a sociologist in 1977, followed by the state examination as a business assessor in 1980.

Peter Jacoby has been married since summer 2015.

Party career, offices and mandates

Jacoby was regional chairman of the Junge Union Saar from 1979 to 1985 and regional chairman of the CDU Saar from 1986 to 1990 . Since 1991 he has been deputy state chairman of the CDU Saar. From 1980 to 1994 he was a member of the Saarland state parliament . From 1990 to 1994 he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there. From 1994 to 1999 Jacoby was a member of the German Bundestag , first through the Saarland state list , then as a member of constituency 244 (Saarbrücken) .

From 1999 to 2012 he was Saarland's Minister of Finance and from 1999 to 2009 Deputy Prime Minister, until 2004 he was also Minister for Federal Affairs. Since 2004 Jacoby is again a member of the Saarland state parliament. After the failure of the Jamaica coalition, the ministers of the FDP and the Greens were dismissed from their offices on January 18, 2012. Jacoby took over the management of the Ministry for Economy and Science, previously headed by Christoph Hartmann , and the office of Deputy Prime Minister. With the formation of the grand coalition of CDU and SPD on May 9, 2012, he left the state government. Since August 2012, he has succeeded Jürgen Schreier as managing director of Saartoto.

Jacoby has been a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. since 1970 . Saarland (Saarbrücken) Jena in the CV .

Honors

Jacoby was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit on January 24, 1995 .
