Hanspeter Georgi

Hanspeter Georgi (born August 17, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( CDU ). Most recently he was Saarland's Minister for Economics and Labor.

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1962, Georgi studied economics in Berlin, Saarbrücken and Münster . In 1967 he graduated with a degree in economics and received his doctorate in 1969. rer. pole. (summa cum laude).

From 1970 to 1972 he worked in the finance and investment planning of an automobile company. He then headed the transport department of the Saarland Chamber of Commerce and Industry and became its general manager in 1989. In 1974 he was a co-founder of the Wirtschaftsjunioren Saar and was its managing director for several years.

Georgi was Saarland Minister for Economic Affairs in the Müller I cabinet (1999–2004). In the Müller II cabinet he was Minister for Economic Affairs and Labor until August 2007. On September 3, 2007, Hanspeter Georgi retired. His successor as Minister of Economics and Science was Joachim Rippel .

Political party

Georgi joined the CDU in 1970. Since then he has held various positions in the local chapters of Dudweiler and Sulzbach . In terms of federal politics, he is involved in the Policy Commission and the Economic and Financial Policy Committee.

Private

Hanspeter Georgi has been married since 1969 and has four children. He has lived in Saarland since the 1970s.
